Gold is a Growth Mutation, not an Environmental Mutation so it won't work if it has only 4 Environmental Mutation and 1 Growth Mutation.
The Butterfly is one of the only two pets that can apply growth-variant mutations to plants. The other one being the Dragonfly.
This also means that despite having an "only" 50x multiplier, Rainbow is the best mutation in the game, for as long as it's accompanied with another powerful mutation like Shocked or Celestial, due to its multiplicative nature as a Growth Mutation.
